Billy Boughey, Jimmy Fallon, and The Roots

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

One of the best sources of growth in life occurs through observation, analyzation, and implementation. For Elevate, that often means watching awards shows, music performances, leadership talks, and game shows.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon seamlessly combines elements of music, pop culture, interviews, social discussions, emceeing and hosting, and entertainment night-after-night. Jimmy Fallon is always taking risks and creating out-of-the-box experiences on his show.

Because of his commitment to creativity and willingness to take risks, it’s nearly impossible to watch Jimmy’s show without learning from him. For this reason and more, Jimmy is an office fave at Elevate; we watch the show individually and sometimes even rewatch episodes together during lunch.

What’s the big deal about last week’s episode?

If you watch The Tonight Show as often as we do you might know why it’s been especially popular in our office lately…

Our very own Billy Boughey (Elevate Founder and President) made it on the show talking to Jimmy and showing off a freestyle rap!

When you watch this particular episode on The Tonight Show, you’ll notice how as Billy shares his ability to freestyle rap, Jimmy glances over to the show’s producer to get a very quick, second opinion on whether Billy should freestyle his story. Why does this impress us? Because even though Jimmy is the star of the show and is incredibly talented, in this moment, he had the wisdom to confirm with his producer that this was indeed a good idea. Rather than fully going with his own gut, he had the humility and respect to ensure this fun idea would be in line with the show and its audiences’ best interest.

Jimmy Fallon is a constant role model in our office because he constantly chooses bravery, which is one of our core values here at Elevate. When the moment came for Billy, he simply implemented what he’d observed and analyzed in the man standing next to him.

Do something brave today. You just might end up standing next to your role model on national television.

A few ideas to help you take action and exemplify bravery today:

  • Believe in your gift: You have a gift you’ve been given. Don’t be afraid to use it.
  • Make the most of every opportunity: “If you go to your grave with regret, you haven’t truly lived.” – Billy Boughey
  • Be brave so others can too: Your bravery sets others free. Step out in bravery and challenge others to do the same.

If you haven’t already, take a look at the above video to hear Billy’s personal thoughts and reflections from his recent experience on The Tonight Show.
