Built to Have Fun

Home Depot Field Day — an outdoor team-building experience for 150+ employees at Home Depot’s Atlanta headquarters that proved culture is built in moments like these.

Founded in 1978, The Home Depot has built one of the most recognizable brands in retail — and they’ve done it, in part, by taking care of their people. Strong relationships and intentional culture aren’t just corporate values at Home Depot — they’re lived out in the way the organization invests in its teams.

In the fall of 2018, one Home Depot department leader wanted to do exactly that: celebrate his team and give them an experience worth talking about. No agenda. No keynote. Just a full outdoor field day, built for fun.

He called Elevate.

What followed was an afternoon of Zorb Ball Races, Dizzy Bat Races, Lip Sync Battles, Human Hamster Wheels, and the kind of genuine laughter that only happens when 150+ colleagues stop being colleagues for a few hours and just enjoy being people together.

WHY ELEVATE

Celebrating a Team That Deserved It

This event didn’t need a complicated brief. It needed a team that could take a simple goal — have fun — and build a full, polished experience around it.

The Challenge

Create a high-energy outdoor field day for 150+ Home Depot employees that felt genuinely celebratory — not like a mandatory team-building exercise — while keeping the production seamless and the energy high from start to finish.

Our Approach

We came with everything: sound system, staging, game supplies, event hosts, and a seven-person team ready to run the full day. Six custom activations, a live DJ, emcee hosting, and a contingency plan for weather — because a little rain was not going to derail this field day.

WHAT WORKED

One Hundred and Fifty People. Six Activations. Zero Dull Moments.

The Lip Sync Battle had the whole field laughing. The Dizzy Bat Races had people falling over. The Zorb Ball Races had teams cheering. And somewhere in between the Caterpillar Race and Rock/Paper/Scissors Biggest Fan, 150 Home Depot colleagues stopped thinking about work and started just enjoying each other.

That’s culture being built in real time. Not in a conference room — on a field, in the middle of a Tuesday, because a leader decided his team deserved it. We were honored to make it happen.

  • Built custom playlists for the full event
  • Loaded in and set up all sound equipment and staging
  • Set up audio and prepped playlists before guests arrived
  • Managed stage and kept the agenda and timing on track throughout
  • Welcomed guests on arrival and directed flow throughout the event
  • Facilitated all six activations and coordinated game logistics
  • Served as real-time point of contact for the client on updates and changes
