Too Busy Being Normal

It’s really easy to get caught up in what’s comfortable, especially when our carefully crafted daily routines ground us. But how do you rekindle the same go-getter energy you had on day one? 

If you feel like you’ve been a little stuck in your steady routine, then this is for you. Here are 4 tips to help you keep it fresh and redefine your normal:

1. Change up your routine

While it may be obvious, this tip is easier said than done. Our best advice would be to start with small changes, like switching up your coffee order or sitting somewhere new within your office. You can also add something to your daily routine to mix things up, like going for a daily walk. 

 

2. Take up learning something new

This can either be learning something to help you progress in your work, like Adobe Creative Suite, or a personal project you’d like to learn for yourself. Do you have any passion projects that you’ve just gotten “too busy” for and pushed off to the side? Take the leap and dive into starting them! We guarantee you will feel more energized when you are doing things that challenge you and give you a sense of determination and purpose.

 

3. Write down your goals/priorities

When was the last time you actually sat down and took the time to physically write out your priorities? Small tasks can get pushed off to the side or just get plain lost in translation. Writing down your priorities can help you keep them top of mind. You can also put your list somewhere visible around your desk as a daily reminder to motivate you to accomplish them and increase accountability with those around you.

4. Go the extra mile

When it comes to work or your personal life, going the extra mile shows great care for the things you put your mind to. By surprising and delighting clients, friends, and family in this way, you will create a “new normal” to what you’ve typically done in the past. 

All of these tips will help you redefine normal, set a higher standard for you work, and stand out from the crowd.
