Taking second mile service to a new level

Taking second mile service to a new level

For the third year in a row Chick-fil-A has sponsored a watch party bringing football fans from rival football teams together to share a meal, have some fun, and enjoy the game. In 2017, it was on the Alabama/Georgia state line for the Auburn vs. Georgia game. In 2018, it was in Philadelphia for the Army vs. Navy game. This year the watch party took place on the joint military base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the Island of O’ahu.

About the project

With no Chick-fil-A within thousands of miles (there isn’t a restaurant yet in the Hawaiian Islands), with a pier that doesn’t have electricity, and with over 1,000 people in attendance, Chick-fil-A was still able to feed everyone two meals, treat them to big screens, and host games and giveaways.

Partnering with the USO and Coca-Cola to pull off the event, Chick-fil-A brought our team in to help plan, produce, emcee and DJ the activation.  Preparation of the event site took 2 days of setting up on site with artificial turf, bleachers, furniture rentals, tailgate games, AV, and over 1,000 folding chairs.

During the football game, guests were able to enjoy games, dancing, music, hear from various active duty and veterans, and of course enjoy waffle fries with a Chick-fil-A sandwich (a treat since some hadn’t had one in over 6 months).

The men and women serving in the armed forces work hard for our country. It seems appropriate that Chick-fil-A wanted to work hard to serve them. It was our team’s joy to serve alongside them.

Why Elevate?

Why Elevate?

Chick-fil-A needed an emcee, DJ, experience design, and project management help (coaching, guidance & logistics management) along the way. They wanted to ensure that their guests felt treated and cared for. We stepped in to help ease the stress of planning & event day logistics, along with bringing high energy on event day.

A closer look at Elevate’s role

Our team consisted of:

  • 1 event host: Smoothly transitioned through each element of the run-of-show, engaged attendees through interactive activities, and encouraged high energy participation.
  • 1 project leader: Coordinated with event organizers 3 months before the event to plan details, conducted pre-event meetings and phone calls.
  • 1 DJ: worked with the Project Leader to plan a custom playlist that aligned with the client’s vision and deejayed the event.
  • 1 event assistant: organized t-shirts, greeted volunteers, gave out volunteer assignments, greeted guests at the door and was the point of contact for any late arriving volunteers (got them their t-shirts, explained the event, got them to their assigned area)

Prior to the event, the Elevate Project Leader worked alongside Chick-fil-A to:

  • Create a smooth event-day schedule to ensure all timing is properly spaced and the run of show is well executed
  • Plan logistics for all moments of engagement
  • Create custom crowd engagement activations for a diverse group

The Elevate Team also provided event-day logistics such as:

  • Following run of show to make sure the day stays on schedule
  • Welcoming guests and giving out high fives
  • Providing high energy hosting to make sure guests are engaged and enjoying the event
  • Running audio during games, transitions, and dance parties

Event wins and stats, including:

  • Number of attendees: 1100
  • Number of activations: 3

  • Event impact: It was so special bringing Chick-fil-A to active/veteran Army & Navy members that have either never had it before or haven’t had it in a long time (since there’s not CFA there). It was also a chance to create unity between Army & Navy fans during a game where they are competing against each other..
  • Exciting moments: We had the honor of helping facilitate a surprise reunion with an active duty soldier and his family. We also loved seeing people eat Chick-fil-A for the first time or enjoy it for the first time in a long time. Seeing people smile, laugh, and gather around Pearl Harbor was an indescbribable experience.

Client feedback: “The team definitely met my expectations for event day. I would say Elevate exceeded them. They felt like a true partner throughout the process, but especially on event day. I never felt alone.” – Haley Shue
