Inspiring student leaders and instilling passion to serve others

Inspiring student leaders and instilling passion to serve others

This conference was born through the success of Shelby County’s leadership conference. It was the first of (hopefully) many St. Clair County high school and middle school leadership conferences and it was designed to instill passion in young people to be leaders in their communities.

About the Project

About the Project

This conference was created with the mindset of encouraging and motivating student leaders in St. Clair’s school district. This was St. Clair’s first year hosting and the students left with not only the hopes of connecting with their local community, but with the realization that their community can be anywhere they are. The day included 2 guest speakers: youth pastor Matt Legg and motivational speaker Timothy Alexander. The students were encouraged to openly discuss topics brought up by both speakers during Q&A and even after the conference had ended.

Why Elevate?

Why Elevate?

Elevate offers the organizers and volunteers of St.Clair County the ability to focus on the students, teachers, and content while we focus on elements like sound, visuals, hosting, run-of-show, and memorable engagement. By providing an emcee, event hosts don’t have to worry about organically transitioning through each segment of the event. They can put their sole focus on the students walking through the doors ready to learn and grow.

Our Team consised of:

  • 1 event host: Showcased genuine joy and enthusiasm through interactive activities, crowd engagement, and high levels of encouragement and interaction for and with the crowd.  The host gave announcements and instructions vital to the success and organization of the event, and effectively reiterated the theme of leadership throughout event.
  • 1 project leader/DJ: Led pre-event calls and meetings, helped plan and coordinate event details and planned a custom playlist that aligned with the client’s vision. The day before the event, the DJ set up all audio, coordinated microphones for the upcoming activities/ speakers and made sure all visuals were working properly. During the event the DJ controlled the music and run of show.
  • 2 event assistants: Worked with the Project Leader to assist where needed throughout the event, helped with food delivery, flow of activities, assisted speakers in getting mic’d up, helped host with keeping up the energy of the event and helped with set up and tear down.

Prior to the event, the Elevate Project Leader worked alongside St. Clair County Event Organizers to:

  • Create a detailed agenda for the day
  • Plan group activities
  • Prepare the keynote presentation
  • Prepare playlists to play throughout the day
  • Plan logistics for all moments of engagement
  • Create custom crowd engagement activations, such as:
    • Musical chairs scavenger hunt
    • Ready, set, leggo
    • Just dance

The Elevate Team also provided event-day logistics such as:

  • Setting up laptops for music and slides
  • Putting leggos, buckets, and blindfolds on tables for the “Ready, Set, Leggo” activation
  • Bringing colored flags and teaching volunteers how to successfully use them throughout event
  • Taking photos throughout the event
  • Facilitating and encouraging moments of engagement
  • Prompting discussion questions throughout the event
  • Following run of show to make sure the day stays on schedule

    Event wins and stats, including:

    • Attendees: 251
    • Number of activations: 3
    • Event impact: Students left the St. Clair County Summit feeling inspired and excited, ready to go back to their schools and communities and act on what they learned throughout the day.
    • Exciting moments: Student engagement during discussions was incredible. Students were standing up in front of their fellow classmates and sharing questions about what community means, as well as highlighting the impact the speaker’s words had on them. The students were so impassioned by motivational speaker Timothy Alexander that all 251 students stood and waited in line to get a photo with him.
